Contact Care

The Contact Care Ministry checks in with every family, member, or regular visitor in the congregation at least twice each year.  Initial contact is by phone, followed up with an e-mail if necessary, and followed by a post card as necessary if a person or family cannot be reached. Each deacon contacts specified members (usually based on the APC Directory) during the designated contact care month. The results and information gathered are reported to the Moderator and the church office administrator. Deacons will ask if there are any prayer concerns or other care needs which the church can address (maintaining confidentiality when requested or sharing concerns with APC’s prayer ministry) and inform those they are calling of any upcoming church-wide events, such as congregational meetings and potlucks.  The calls also provide a secondary purpose of verifying contact information to keep the church directory up to date. The Contact Care coordinator follows up with the other deacons to ensure that the entire congregation is being reached and supported by APC’s care ministries. Deacon point of contact Tammy Gray, (703) 858-1729, e-mail: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Deacon Call/Visitation

The Deacon Call/Visitation Ministry addresses needs, for example prayer requests, identified by congregation members. Needs are identified either directly to a deacon or to the church office by the person in need, or by other church members who are aware of persons in need. If the need is identified by other church members, a deacon will first contact the affected church member to confirm the need and the individual’s desire for support. A deacon will be designated to maintain contact with the member in need until such time as the member no longer requires deacon support. Deacon point of contact is Peggy Chapman, (703) 723-3056, e-mail: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

The Divorce Care ministry is a confidential biblical based program which offers Christian support to separated or divorced people. This program's emphasis  is that real healing begins with a relationship with Jesus Christ. It is open to church and community members who need this support.  It  is composed of two annual 13 week sessions, one in the fall and the second one in the spring. Deacon point of contact is Lenore Waggoner, 703-729-4213, email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
